SHORT COURSES

Egerton Consulting runs a number of specialist Reliability Engineering and Statistical Analysis training courses throughout the year. With an emphasis on the practical application of the tools and techniques covered, you'll come away with not just knowledge, but understanding. You will also continue to receive our help and general support in applying the techniques you have learned. You can download a copy of our Course Brochure here which also gives details of how to make a booking.

All of our open courses are currently held in the Swindon area (120 km west of London in the UK) either at a conference venue or, for smaller groups, at our own training facility in the nearby village of Minety. If you are travelling from outside the UK or arriving at Swindon by public transport, we are pleased to offer (by prior arrangement) free transfer to any of the accommodation listed in our joining instructions, and we can also provide free transfers each day to and from the course venue if required.

In-house training courses, tailored to your company's particular requirements, can also be arranged at a time and location to suit you, either within the UK or overseas.

Training philosophy

Fundamental to our training philosophy is a belief that it is the practical application of reliability engineering and statistical tools and techniques that gives them their value. Through our ongoing commercial experience we're able to bring these techniques to life, ensuring you take away a sound understanding of how they can be applied to the problems and issues specific to your industry.

Course numbers are limited to a maximum of 8, ensuring sufficient one-to-one attention to enable you to benefit fully from these professional training sessions.

For those who have little or no prior experience we recommend our Introduction to Reliability Engineering course, which runs twice a year in Spring and Autumn. To understand a subject area in more depth we also run specialist courses throughout the year.

Where we have confirmed bookings, we have a policy of running our courses on the published dates, regardless of numbers. So you can make your training plans with confidence.

If you know which course you'd like to attend, click on the appropriate link in the table to find out more and to make your booking. For a brief overview of each of our courses, scroll down to read the course summary or click on Summary.

OVERVIEW OF COURSES

Introduction to Reliability Engineering
5 day open course

This course removes the mystique surrounding reliability engineering techniques, including the mathematical concepts that underpin the techniques. You'll come away with an understanding of the underlying principles for the achievement of reliability as well as an introduction to the techniques themselves.

Click HERE for more information and to make your booking.

Overview of Hazard Identification Techniques
1 day open course

Considered an integral part of a safety or reliability assessment, this course will give you an overview of different techniques that can be used for hazard identification, including a brief outline of the approach, suitable applications, preparatory tasks, resource requirements, benefits and limitations.

Click HERE for more information and to make your booking.

Preliminary Hazard Analysis
1 day open course

This course will introduce you to Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), a simple but powerful technique for hazard identification. Even if you have no previous experience of reliability analysis you'll come away with the ability and confidence to apply PHA to the equipment and systems that you are working with on a day to day basis.

Click HERE for more information and to make your booking.

Introduction to Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
2 day open course

Essential for anyone involved in the design, construction or operation of high capital value plant, this course will give you a thorough understanding of the FMEA technique and experience of its application.

Click HERE for more information and to make your booking.

Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
4 day open course

Essential for anyone involved in the design, construction or operation of high capital value plant, this course will give you a thorough understanding of the FMEA technique and experience of its application. The course then progresses to the consideration of risk and specialised techniques for determining the criticality of failure modes identified through the FMEA process.

Click HERE for more information and to make your booking.

Fault Tree and Event Tree Analysis (FTA and ETA)
5 day open course

Fault Tree and Event Tree Analysis are two of the most widely used techniques in reliability and safety assessment. This course will give you a thorough understanding of these powerful problem solving techniques and their application.

Click HERE for more information and to make your booking.

Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (ARM) Studies
5 day open course

Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (ARM) Studies use established techniques in a new way. This course will introduce the ARM philosophy and the techniques that it employs and will give you a basic knowledge of ARM and its application.

Click HERE for more information and to make your booking.

Probability Distributions and their Applications
3 day open course

By the end of this course you will have gained a good understanding of the concept of probability, probability distributions, and how they are applied to solve practical problems in engineering, science and industry.

Click HERE for more information and to make your booking.

Statistical Analysis for Engineers and Scientists
5 day open course

This course will give you a good general understanding of statistical methods and greater confidence and proficiency in using statistical software packages. Emphasis is given to understanding the techniques and defining the situations in which they are most usefully applied.
