PRELIMINARY HAZARD
ANALYSIS
1 Day Course
Next date: 11th July 2012
This programme
can also be run at your premises and adapted to
your specific requirements.

Who should attend? If you want to identify and overcome deficiencies
in design but have no experience of reliability
engineering then this is the course for you.
Whether you work in R&D, design,
construction or operations this course will give
you the understanding and confidence to identify
hazards associated with your own plant and
processes.
Why attend? It is important to identify
hazards in advance of their occurrence if safety
and reliability are to be maximised without
incurring excessive costs. Preliminary Hazard
Analysis (also known as What If? Analysis) is a
very simple but effective technique for
identifying such hazards. You can then take
appropriate action either to design them out or to
manage their consequences and so ensure that the
likelihood of major incidents in the future can
be reduced or minimised.
What does the course cover?
The PHA approach and its application
The incorporation of checklists within PHA
Preparing for the PHA study sessions
Recording the study sessions
Producing the final report
We encourage interaction and delegate
participation throughout the course, and group exercises
ensure you come away with practical experience of actually
applying PHA techniques.
